Polish Prosecutor’s Office gave up Byalyatski and 15 activists’ accounts

The Polish magazine "Wprost" informs about it. Representative of the General Prosecutor’s Office Maciej Kujawski has admitted that Poland fulfilled the Belarusian request for legal assistance in Ales Byalyatski’s case. However, Mr. Kujawski says that there was no information about Byalyatski’s opposition activities in the request.

Polish MEP Krzysztof Lisek has called the actions of the Polish General Prosecutor’s Office an ordinary scandal. According to him, Poland support the Belarusian opposition in many ways and its state institutions have given out one of the most active representatives of the opposition to Belarus.

"Wprost" notes that the actions of the Prosecutor’s Office seem very strange taking into account the fact that Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski asked Attorney General Andrzej Seremet to thoroughly analyze all Belarusian requests for legal assistance in January 2011.

Human rights defender Tatstsyana Ravyaka has confirmed the information presented by the Polish magazine to Euroradio and added that Białystok Prosecutor’s Office gave out the accounts of 15 more Belarusian citizens.

Let us remind you that Byalyatski is accused of tax evasion. He is facing up to 7 years of imprisonment. Lithuania gave out Byalyatski’s banking accounts earlier.
